Feature Spotlight

Dashboard Worklists

The Approval Manager Proofs tab provides easy access to essential functions for each class of user through a unique dashboard. This dashboard contains worklists for each type of use in Approval Manager (Manager, Production, or Reviewer). These worklists help users work more efficiently, and present a prioritized and sortable list of the approval processes they are involved in, what approval processes are waiting for them the take action on, etc. Color schemes are utilized to help prioritize the proofs that require immediate attention.

Q&A with Technical Support

How can digital resources be put back into production if they have been accidentally archived?

When digital resources are archived using Digital Storage Manager, their archiving status changes from Production to Archived. This archiving status is useful for locating and differentiating between files currently being worked on and things that are out of production. If digital resources have been archived accidentally, those files can be placed back into production by using the Move functionality. Locate the archived files in the Digital Resources Explorer window or by using a Find. Right click the desired files\folders and choose the Move option from the menu. Select the location where the files should be placed in your production volume. Once the files have been moved to the production volume, the archiving status of the files will be switched back to Production.

Smart Tip of the Month

Saving Production Portal Finds

Last month, we discussed using Quick Search functionality of the Production Portal to search across multiple fields. The finds that are performed using the Quick Search or any other find in Production Portal can be saved and re-used, making the task of locating commonly used information easy. When results of a find are displayed, the Save As link is available. Simply click and assign a name to that find. Once the find is saved, it appears in the "Other" category of the Recent Items tab.

Additional Resources

VMWare Server

With every upgrade of the MetaCommunications software, it is recommended that administrators test the upgrade before performing the upgrade on a production environment. VMWare provides a freeware version of their virtualization software called VMWare Server. VMWare Server allows administrators to easily setup multiple virtual servers on one computer. If you are unable to afford the costs of purchasing a separate server for testing, VMWare might be the answer to developing and testing your MetaCommunications systems.
