Processing Log
When Virtual Ticket cannot create a thumbnail for a file, the Virtual Ticket Processing Log may contain messages that indicate the problem that prevented the thumbnail from being generated. The Processing Log can be viewed in the Digital Resource Properties window, and can be reviewed when investigating why Virtual Ticket will not create a thumbnail for a resource.
One common situation in which a thumbnail will not be generated for a resource is when Virtual Ticket encounters files that use LZW compression and no LZW license is installed at the MetaCommunications Application Server. The thumbnail will not be generated and a message will be written to the processing log indicating that there is no LZW license. The Processing Log is the recommended first step in troubleshooting any thumbnailing problems.

Smart Tip of the Month
Let Your Path be Known
MetaScript can be used to display path information for files located in Virtual Ticket File Collectors. This path information can then be passed to other MetaScript functions. For example, this can be used to alert Virtual Ticket users of the location of all files in the collector. This provides the user with one action for determining what server volumes are being used or what archived CD volumes need to be retrieved.
An example of this functionality can be found in the MetaCommunications Knowledge Base Article 16184.
