Production Automation

The Digital Storage Manager Production Pack contains a set of plug-ins for Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and QuarkXPress. The Production Pack provides many powerful automation features including:

  • Automatic metadata lookup from within the native design application
  • Look up job information
  • Look up file metadata
  • Copy and paste to/from Digital Storage Manager to design applications

Digital Storage Manager's Production Pack Plug-ins deliver advanced functionality within the familiar design application.

Automation Plug-in for Mac OS X

The Production Pack Plug-in for the Mac OS X Finder allows users to perform many Digital Storage Manager functions directly from within the Finder - giving users the flexibility to work within the Finder when it's most convenient. Many of Digital Storage Manager's most powerful features are available directly from within the Finder.

  • Create new job folder
  • Look up job information
  • Look up file metadata
  • Archive/Set Archive Date
  • Find in current location

Document Previews

Rich, full size document previews are available for QuarkXPress, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite applications. Previews are stored in the database, providing you and your users with access to document information without having to open the document in its native application, and without requiring access to the file itself.

Previews are created for all pages of a document, allowing you to zoom in and out, read text, review placed images, and otherwise review the contents of a file all from within Digital Storage Manager.

Scripting Support

Digital Storage Manager supports custom automation via two scripting languages: MetaScript and AppleScript.

MetaScript: Based on the familiar JavaScript language, MetaScript is a rich scripting language used in forms and solutions.

AppleScript: With built in support for AppleScript, you can use Digital Storage Manager to automate routine tasks and perform virtually any action that can be scripted through AppleScript. This includes driving third party applications, allowing you to use Digital Storage Manager as the front end for automating your production processes.
